SOUND
HEALING
Sound healing is the use of
sound to shift the frequency of the body and bring it back
into alignment. The body has
specific resonant frequencies for each group of cells in the
body. This includes our bones, muscles, tissues, organs, and
emotions. Sound is also effective for removing blockages in
the energetic and subtle bodies. When the body is in
harmony is said to be healthy. However, when the body is out
of balance the body will instead be in a state of disease or
discomfort. Sound healing works by sending the right frequency
to the part of the body in need. The body then goes from a
dissonant state to a resonant one.
Sound Healing Benefits:
• Relaxation.
• Chakra Healing.
• Enhanced Meditation.
• Release of pain.
• Easing and removal of physical and emotional blockages.
The projection of therapeutic
sound is done via the human voice or an instrument. People
have been making sounds for thousands of years. Chant and toning
is a common tradition shared by many world religions. Well
known examples of chant are the Gregorian chants of Christianity
and Kirtan chanting from India. Overtone singing or throat
singing is another form of sound used in sound healing. Throat
singing is when a vocalist produces two or more pitches simultaneously.
Other common instruments in sound healing are: singing bowls
(shown in the above picture), tuning forks, bells, drums, piano,
rattles, chimes, etc. Truly anything that produces a sound
can be used in sound healing. In the words of sound healing
pioneer Jonathan Goldman, “frequency
+ intention = healing.”
